James Caan, the American actor best known for his role as Sonic Leon in The Godfather, has died at the age of 82.
A leading figure in Hollywood throughout the 1970s, Kan has been active for decades and has been nominated for an Oscar and an Emmy and is a four-time Golden Globe winner.
Kan’s family said they would like to thank fans for sharing their grief over his death. A native of New York, Kan has been married four times and has five children.
Co-star Gary Nees said, “It’s been amazing to get to know Kan,” and actor Rob Rainer said he enjoyed working with Kan.
An early American football player, Kan entered the art world when he met The Godfather director Francis Ford Coppola while studying at Hofstra University.
